Avantime climate control failure

Climate control panel on my 2002 Renault Avantime (gasoline engine) seems dead. Error memory stores an error, heating output is too low, and AC won't switch on. I've checked basic fuses, but I'm not sure what to do next. Could it be a total failure of the control unit, or is there something else I should investigate? I read that a defective wiring harness could be the cause, could that be it?

I also own an Avantime and had a similar problem with my climate control. The symptoms sound familiar: weak heating, and unresponsive AC. For me it was a problem with the power supply. The CAN bus had an issue. I suggest you check that!

When you say power supply, are you referring to the wiring harness connections to the climate control unit itself? Or something further upstream? I'm just trying to get a clearer picture before I start tearing apart the dashboard. Was it difficult to diagnose?

Yes, I mean the wiring harness connections to the climate control unit. I couldn't figure it out myself and took it to a workshop. They identified a defective plug connection that was causing the issue. You should go to a workshop, too.

I took it to a local workshop and they were able to diagnose a defective cable or plug connection to the climate control unit, as you suggested. The repair cost me 95€, so it wasn't too bad. I appreciate the help!
