Avantime diesel fuel pump connection issue
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Renault Avantime diesel is experiencing starting issues, stalling when idling, and excessive fuel consumption, with the check engine light on. Error codes suggest a problem with the fuel pump, potentially due to a faulty connection. Checking and repairing the cable and plug connections to the fuel pump is recommended, as a defective connection can prevent the pump from receiving adequate power. The issue was resolved by a mechanic who fixed the faulty connection, resulting in improved vehicle performance.

Thanks! Where exactly is the fuel pump located? And is it easy to get to the cable and plug? Don't want to mess anything else up!

Honestly, it's a bit of a pain to get to without proper tools. And if you're not familiar with car electrics, I'd strongly suggest taking it to a workshop. They can diagnose the problem properly and fix it. Could save you a lot of hassle in the long run.

Cheers! You were spot on! Took it to a mechanic, and it was indeed a faulty connection to the fuel pump. New plug and wiring, and it's running like a dream. Cost me 95€ all in. Thanks again!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Avantime – though it wasn't diesel. Check the cable and plug connections to the fuel pump, that was the culprit in my case. A defective cable connection can cause the engine to stall at idle because the fuel pump isn't getting enough power.
