Thank you for your input. I have not specifically observed warm-up times. Regarding the catalytic converter, how would a defective EGR valve affect it?

Well, a faulty EGR can cause incomplete combustion, sending unburnt fuel into the exhaust. This can overheat and potentially damage the catalytic converter over time. Given your symptoms, especially the hissing, you likely have a jammed EGR valve. I'd recommend getting it checked by a workshop to avoid further issues.

Understood. I appreciate the advice. I took it to a workshop, and the EGR valve was indeed defective. The repair cost 355€. The symptoms have disappeared.

Sounds familiar! I had similar issues with my Saab 9-3. Reduced power and the check engine light were the first signs. Have you noticed any difference in how quickly the engine warms up, or any change to the catalytic converter?
