Avantime Fuel Level Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
The 2002 Renault Avantime diesel experienced a check engine light and engine stalling at idle, with an error indicating a fuel level sensor issue. Possible causes included a faulty fuel level sensor or issues within the fuel system, such as a bad fuse. After checking the fuses, the problem persisted, leading to a workshop visit where a defective fuel level sensor was identified and replaced, resolving the issue.

Thanks, I'll check the fuses. If they're okay, what next? Anything else I can check before a workshop visit?

If the fuses are good and the problem's still there, a mechanic is probably needed. Since the error points to the sensor, replacement or checking the sensor wiring inside the fuel tank is likely.

Thanks for the help. Workshop found a defective fuel level sensor and replaced it for 52€. Engine runs smoothly now, and the error is gone.

I had something similar on my Avantime. Fuel gauge was erratic, and the engine cut out. Sounds like a faulty fuel level sensor or something in the fuel system. Have you checked the fuel system fuses? A bad fuse can mess with the level sensor.
