Avantime MOST bus fault
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Renault Avantime is experiencing a MOST bus fault, leading to a non-functional audio system and navigation, with an error stored in the memory. The problem may be due to a defect in one of the control units within the MOST bus. Checking connections and fuses is suggested, but professional repair might be necessary, potentially costing around 1000€.

Connections to what specifically? I suspect a defect in one of the control units installed in the MOST bus. I checked the fuse of the audio system.

Yeah, that's what I meant. The control units... I couldn't figure it out myself. Ended up taking it to a workshop. They sorted it, but it wasn't cheap.

Thanks, that confirms my suspicion. I'll get it checked. The diagnostic confirms the MOST bus issue and I'm expecting around 1000€ for the repair.

The navigation system works, but the sound doesn't.

Check the fiber optic connections in the MOST bus system. A loose or damaged connection can disrupt communication between components. If you're unsure, it's best to have a professional inspect it, as this can affect multiple systems in your car. Let me know how it goes or if you have more questions!

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had something like that with my Avantime. All the audio stuff just died. Was a real pain. Did you check the connections?
