Avantime Transport Mode Issue

Evening, my 2001 Renault Avantime (gasoline engine) seems to think it's fresh off the factory floor. The central display shows 'Transport Mode Active' and the navigation is dead. Plus, I'm getting some weird electrical gremlins. I've checked all the fuses, and the battery seems fine. Is this some sort of anti-theft thing gone wrong? It's only got 70694 km on the clock!

Transport Mode? Sounds familiar! I had a similar weird issue with my Avantime. Electrical stuff going haywire, like the car was half-asleep. Did you try anything with the key fob lately? Like, did you replace the battery?

Interesting... Key fob battery? I did replace it last week, actually. Could that really be the culprit? I thought the key was just for locking and unlocking, not some master switch for the car's entire configuration!

Yep, that's exactly what happened to mine! It somehow messed up the car's computer. Best bet is to take it to a Renault workshop. They'll need to do a software refresh or something to properly configure it. Hopefully, it is still possible for such an old car.
