Thanks for the tip! When you say 'dodgy connection,' do you mean visually inspected it, or did you test it with a multimeter? I'm trying to figure out how deep I need to dive into this.

I visually inspected it first and it looked ok, but the issue persisted. Eventually, a friend with more electrical know-how tested it with a multimeter and found an intermittent short. He said the plug was slightly corroded, causing the sensor to send erratic signals. He cleaned it up and the problem vanished for a while, but came back a few weeks later. I eventually ended up taking it to a workshop. Best 95€ I've ever spent.

Great, thanks for sharing your experience! I'll give the connection a thorough check, and if that doesn't fix it, I'll take it to a shop. I appreciate the help.

Interesting. I had a similar issue with my Renault Espace. It turned out to be a dodgy connection to the sensor itself. Think of it like a loose wire on a lamp – sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Have you checked the cable and plug connection? A bit of moisture in there can cause all sorts of havoc.
