Avensis Bluetooth Pairing Problem

My 2005 Toyota Avensis, diesel engine, has a weird issue. The car runs fine, but I can't connect my smartphone to the infotainment system. Keeps saying 'incorrect pairing'. I checked the error memory and there's an error stored related to Bluetooth. Restarted the phone and car, deleted the pairing on both ends and tried again. Any ideas?

Sounds frustrating. I had a similar issue with my old Renault Megane, though mine was with the sat nav constantly losing connection. Did you try refreshing the firmware on the head unit? Sometimes that fixes weird connectivity glitches. Also, have you checked the Bluetooth module itself? Maybe that's faulty.

Firmware refresh, huh? I didn't even think about that. I'll have to look into how to do that on this Avensis. Where would I even find the Bluetooth module to check it? Is it easily accessible, or am I going to have to take half the dashboard apart?

On my Megane, the Bluetooth module was integrated into the main head unit, so no easy access. From what I remember, I ended up taking it to a local workshop, because I had no idea what I was doing. Seems like you have to do the same, to prevent doing more harm than good.

Okay, thanks for the advice! Took it to a shop and it was a faulty Bluetooth module after all. 45€ later and the phone connects again! Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction. Cheers!
