Avensis brake lights not working

Hi, I've got a problem with my 2015 Toyota Avensis diesel. The brake lights aren't working at all. The dashboard is throwing an error, and the system error memory has logged a fault. Mileage is at 84246 km. I checked the bulbs, and they seem fine. Could it be the brake light switch?

I had a similar issue with my Avensis. Sounds like it could be the brake light switch indeed. Have you checked the switch itself for any physical damage or loose connections?

Thanks for the quick reply. I haven't taken the switch out yet. Where exactly is it located, and is there anything specific I should look for besides obvious damage to the connector?

The switch is usually located near the brake pedal assembly. I recommend consulting the vehicle's repair manual for the exact location and removal procedure. However, without proper diagnostic tools, it might be challenging to confirm if the switch is faulty or if there's another issue in the brake system. I would recommend visiting a workshop.

Thanks for the advice. It turned out that the brake light switch was faulty. I followed the repair manual, took it to the workshop and they fixed it for nothing because it was an user error. Brake lights are working perfectly now.
