Avensis Camshaft Sensor Error

I'm having issues with my 2011 Toyota Avensis gasoline engine. It starts poorly, and engine power is noticeably reduced. A diagnostic shows an error related to the camshaft sensor. I checked the sensor, and it looks fine. Could a bad cable or plug connection be the problem?

Hey, I had similar symptoms with my Avensis: reduced power, rough starts. It was a camshaft position sensor issue. Have you checked the crankshaft sensor? Sometimes a problem there can throw off the camshaft sensor reading.

Thanks. I haven't checked the crankshaft sensor specifically. Can a faulty crankshaft sensor cause the camshaft sensor to trigger an error? Where is the crankshaft sensor located in Avensis models?

Yes, absolutely. The crankshaft and camshaft sensors work together to manage engine timing. If the crankshaft sensor is faulty, it can send incorrect data, leading to a camshaft sensor error. Honestly, given your symptoms and the error code, it's probably best to get it checked by a professional workshop. These timing issues can get complicated quickly.

I took the car to a workshop, and it was a defective camshaft sensor connection, just as suspected. Repair cost was 95€. Thanks again for your help!
