Avensis handsfree system failure

Hi, I'm having a weird issue with my 2009 Toyota Avensis diesel. The hands-free system seems to have completely died. Telephony is no longer possible, and when I hooked it up to a diagnostics tool, it threw up an error. I'm suspecting it's the infotainment system packing it in. Anyone experienced anything similar?

Hey there! I had a similar problem with my old Renault Megane a few years back, although the symptoms weren't quite the same. My Bluetooth connection kept dropping out randomly, and voice recognition was practically unusable. Did you notice any other weird behaviour from the audio system before this happened? Any issues with the radio or CD player, for instance?

Good shout. Now that you mention it, the audio input has been a bit dodgy recently. Sometimes it wouldn't recognise my phone when I plugged it in. I thought it was just a loose connection, but maybe it's a sign of a bigger problem. Do you think it could be related?

Yep, sounds mighty familiar. It really does sound like the whole infotainment system is starting to fail. With my Megane it started with small glitches like that, but quickly escalated. In the end I had to get the whole thing replaced. My suggestion would be to take your Avensis to a workshop and have them run a proper diagnostic. It'll save you a lot of headaches in the long run!

Cheers for the advice! Took it to a workshop, and you were spot on. Turns out the infotainment system was indeed defective. Cost me 815€ to get it sorted, but at least I can make calls in the car again. Appreciate the help!
