Aveo Check Engine Light and Stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Chevrolet Aveo was experiencing issues with the check engine light and stalling at idle. The initial suspicion was a problem with the fuel level sensor or a fuse issue. It was suggested to check the fuses and use a diagnostic scan tool to identify specific error codes. After following the advice, the problem was resolved by replacing a blown fuse for the fuel sensor, clearing the error code, and the vehicle returned to normal operation.

Right, fuses... I should have checked that first. So, where exactly do I find the fuel sensor fuse on this Aveo? And would a cheap OBD2 scanner give me enough info, or do I need something fancier?

Concerning the fuse allocation, consult the vehicle's owner's manual for the precise location of the fuel sensor circuit fuse; discrepancies may exist based on trim level and production date. As for diagnostic equipment, a low-cost OBD2 scanner may provide rudimentary error codes, yet advanced diagnostic capabilities, such as live data streaming and bidirectional control, are generally absent. Consequently, the acquisition of a professional-grade scan tool, or a consultation with a qualified automotive technician, is advisable for a comprehensive evaluation. Given the potential complexity of contemporary automotive electronic systems, pursuing professional assistance is often the most efficacious course of action.

Thanks for the detailed advice! You were spot on. Turns out it was just a blown fuse for the fuel sensor. Replaced it, cleared the code, and everything's running smoothly again. 52€ later at the workshop!

Greetings. Given the symptoms presented – illumination of the check engine light, intermittent engine stall at idle, and the presence of a stored error code – a malfunction within the fuel level sensor circuit is a plausible hypothesis. However, a rigorous diagnostic approach is paramount prior to component replacement. Have you verified the integrity of the relevant fuse(s) within the vehicle's electrical distribution architecture? Moreover, has a diagnostic scan tool been employed to ascertain the specific error code(s) stored within the engine control unit (ECU)?
