Aveo diesel ECU fault
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Chevrolet Aveo diesel experienced reduced engine power and an error light, with a code reader indicating an ECU fault. The issue was suspected to be a faulty ECU, but advice suggested checking the main relay that powers the ECU. After swapping the relay, the problem was resolved, avoiding a full ECU replacement.

The main relay, huh? I haven't checked that yet. Whereabouts is that located, and is there any way to test it before I start ripping everything apart? Is it a common issue? And could that really cause the reduced engine power and the error memory issue?

On my Corsa, it was in the engine bay fuse box, but check your Aveo's manual. As for testing, you can try swapping it with an identical relay from another system (like the horn or lights) to see if the problem goes away or shifts to the other system. But honestly, with those symptoms and error codes, it's probably best to get it properly diagnosed at a workshop. Could save you a lot of time and money in the long run.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a local garage, and you were spot on – it was the main relay for the ECU. They replaced it, cleared the error codes, and it's running like a dream again. Cost me about 120€ all in. Massive relief, I thought I was looking at a full ECU repair!

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms on my old Opel Corsa a few years back. Engine felt like it was running on three cylinders, and the error codes pointed towards some generic control system fault. Have you checked the main relay that powers the ECU? A faulty relay can cause all sorts of weird issues with the control system.
