I wiggled the connection but didn't notice anything. Should I look for something specific, like corrosion or a loose wire? Is it possible only the cable is faulty? What was the root cause in your case?

My problems were very similar. Wiggling didn't help me either. I'd advise a workshop visit. They should be able to measure that. Replacing the sensor and cable cost me around 95€. It's worth checking out to avoid further damage!

Thanks for the advice! Sounds like the same issue. I took it to a shop, and they confirmed the defective cable to the knock sensor. It will cost 95€ including installation. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! Hopefully, my fuel efficiency will be normal soon.

Sounds familiar! I also drive an Aveo. I had similar symptoms last year – check engine light, rough idling, and the car was guzzling gas. It was the knock sensor. Did you check the connection carefully? Maybe wiggle it a bit to see if anything changes?
