Aveo sound system failure
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Chevy Aveo diesel experienced a total sound system failure, with no audio output despite the display functioning and controls responding. The issue was traced to a defective display impacting the audio output circuit. The recommended solution was to have the system diagnosed by a professional, which confirmed the display defect, leading to its replacement and restoration of the sound system.

Yeah, the display still lights up and I can see the stations, but no sound at all, not even static. The dashboard controls seem to work, like I can change the station or try to turn up the volume, but still silence. What was the issue with yours?

Okay, the fact that the display lights up and the controls appear functional suggests the problem isn't a simple power issue. When I experienced similar symptoms, the diagnostic report indicated a display malfunction. While the display was active, the audio output circuit had failed. Given the symptoms, I recommend taking it to a qualified workshop for further diagnostic testing. It's possible that the display is indeed defective, impacting the audio output.

Thanks a bunch! I took it to the shop like you suggested, and you were spot on. They said the display was defective, which was causing the audio to cut out. Cost me 725€ to replace, but at least it's working now. Appreciate the help!

I had a similar problem with my Aveo. The sound just went kaput. Does the display light up at all, or is it completely dead? Check if you can adjust the volume or change stations using the dashboard controls. Sometimes a short in the wiring harness can cause the system to shut down, or the unit itself might be defective.
