Avventura diesel engine stalling
Summary of the thread
The 2014 Fiat Avventura diesel is experiencing increased fuel consumption, engine stalling at idle, and smoke during acceleration, with the check engine light on. These symptoms suggest a potential issue with the mass air flow (MAF) sensor. Replacing the MAF sensor resolved similar issues for another owner, indicating it as a likely solution.
Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Yeah, actually, now that you mention it, the acceleration does feel a bit off, like it's struggling. What was the problem with yours, and how did you fix it? Any chance it's an easy fix?

Sounds like your mass air flow (MAF) sensor is probably shot. Mine did the same thing. I wouldn't mess with it too much yourself unless you really know what you're doing. I took mine to a workshop and they replaced the MAF sensor. Problem solved, but it's not the cheapest repair.

Thanks a lot for the info! Sounds like I'm heading to the workshop then. I'll mention the MAF sensor and see what they say. It turns out that the mass air flow meter (LMM) was defective. The repair cost me 365€. Fingers crossed that fixes everything!

That sounds super familiar! I have an Avventura too, and I had almost the exact same symptoms a few months back – higher fuel consumption, stalling at idle... Did you also notice any difference in how it accelerates? Like, does it feel a bit sluggish?
