Aygo automatic temperature control malfunction

Hi, I have a 2005 Toyota Aygo with a diesel engine and only 29979 km. The automatic temperature control is no longer working, and I've got an error stored in the memory. Also, the air conditioning system refuses to switch on at all. Could this be related? It's driving me crazy!

Hey there! That sounds really frustrating. I had a similar climate issue with my Aygo. Have you checked the interior temperature sensor? I remember reading somewhere that a defective cable or plug connection to that component could cause havoc with the whole climate regulation system. Where exactly is the error stored? Like, what module is reporting it?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the interior temperature sensor specifically. To be honest, I'm not even sure where it is located in the Aygo. The error is showing up in the main ECU, but I don't have the exact code handy right now. Do you know where I can find more information about the sensor's location and how to check its connections?

Okay, if the error is in the ECU, it's almost certainly the temp sensor or its wiring. Honestly, tracing the wires and checking the sensor itself can be a pain without the right tools and knowledge. If you're not comfortable doing it yourself, I'd suggest biting the bullet and taking it to a workshop. I ended up doing that when I had the same problem. They sorted it out quickly, and it was worth the peace of mind.

Okay, thanks so much for the advice! I think you're right; I'll take it to a workshop. They found that the cable to the temperature sensor was indeed defective, just like you suggested! They replaced the cable and the plug and now everything is working perfectly. The repair cost 95€ Thanks again for your help!
