Aygo diesel generator fault

My 2005 Aygo diesel has a power reduction, warning light, poor starting, weak lights, and a logged error. Diagnostics point to a defective generator. Any ideas?

I took it to a workshop. They confirmed the generator was defective. The repair was 960€. It's working now.
