Aygo Transmission Slipping

Thanks. I appreciate the clarification regarding the torque converter's function and the lock-up clutch. I haven't checked the transmission fluid yet. Could a simple fluid change potentially resolve this, or is it likely a mechanical failure within the converter itself?

Checking the fluid is a good first step, but with those symptoms and stored error codes, I suspect it's more than just fluid. The grinding noises suggest internal damage to the lock-up clutch. A fluid change might offer temporary improvement, but it's unlikely to be a lasting solution. Continuing to drive it could cause further transmission damage. Take it to a reputable workshop for a proper diagnosis and likely a transmission repair or torque converter replacement. Expect a hefty bill; it's not a cheap fix.

I appreciate your detailed explanation and candid assessment. Given the potential for further damage, I'll heed your advice and schedule an appointment with a trusted workshop for a comprehensive inspection. The estimated repair cost is approximately 2120€. Thanks again.

That rings a bell. I own an Aygo, though I haven't seen it lately. The lights, slipping, and grinding point to a torque converter problem. It's a fluid coupling allowing the engine to spin somewhat independently of the transmission. The lock-up clutch inside improves efficiency via a direct mechanical connection. Failure there explains your symptoms. Have you checked the transmission fluid level and condition? Low or burnt fluid can worsen these problems.
