Thanks for sharing those details about the mount issues. Your description matches what happened with my Lupo almost exactly, right down to the annoying vibrations through the wheel. After replacing both the engine mount and transmission mount on my car, the vibration issues completely disappeared. Would you mind sharing how much the repair ended up costing you? Also curious if youve had any mount wear or related problems since the fix? Just want to make sure I budget properly for this repair and know what to expect long term.

I was happy to get the engine mount defective fixed with no recurring issues since then. The initial estimate seemed high, but my problem turned out simpler than expected. The mechanic found a loose cable and plug connection causing similar symptoms to mount failure. The repair only cost 95€ to secure the connection properly. Looking back, it was a relief not needing a full mount replacement. The vibration issues completely stopped after this basic fix. A proper diagnosis made all the difference compared to my previous shop experiences where they immediately pushed for expensive mounting bracket replacements. The car has run smoothly for over a year now with no transmission mount problems or related vibrations. Regular inspections help catch these issues early before they become major repairs. When dealing with these symptoms, always worth checking electrical connections first before replacing mechanical parts.

Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences. Finally got the issue sorted last week. Took it to a new mechanic who actually spent time diagnosing before replacing parts. Turns out my mounting bracket had completely separated from the rubber bushing. Total repair came to 280€ including labor. They replaced both the engine mount and transmission mount since they were both showing significant wear. The difference is incredible, no more vibration issues and the engine runs super smooth at idle now. The mechanic showed me the old parts, the rubber was totally deteriorated. Pretty scary to think how long I drove around with failing mounts. The whole repair took about 3 hours and theyve got a good warranty on the parts. Money well spent considering how much better the car drives now.

Having experienced similar symptoms with my 2007 VW Polo TDI, I can relate to this issue. The rough idle combined with excessive steering wheel vibration strongly suggests a worn motor mount situation. The rubber mount deteriorates over time, causing the engine to shift more than it should. In my case, both the transmission mount and engine mounting bracket needed replacement since the original rubber components had cracked and separated. This allowed too much engine movement, which affected various sensor readings and triggered multiple error codes. The repair involved replacing the defective engine mounts and checking all surrounding brackets for stress damage. This is not a quick fix and requires proper alignment to prevent future issues. The transmission mount also needed attention since these components work as a system. These symptoms should not be ignored, as a failing mount can lead to more serious problems including damaged engine wiring harnesses and stressed fuel lines. The repair proved essential for resolving both the vibration and rough running issues. In this case, the symptoms match exactly what I encountered, rough idle, vibration, and error codes. Getting all mounts inspected would be the logical first step before looking at other potential causes.
