Barchetta AC malfunction
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Fiat Barchetta owner experienced an issue where the air conditioning system would not switch on or cool. The problem was initially suspected to be related to low voltage, as indicated by an error code. After consulting a workshop, it was confirmed that undervoltage was indeed the cause of the malfunction, and the issue was resolved with a repair.

Thanks for the tip. Belt tensioner is something I didn't think about. Where is that part located? Is it easy to check, or is it a job for a mechanic, do you think?

On my Saab, the belt tensioner was accessible, but it's best left to a professional if you're not familiar. In your Barchetta, it is difficult to say where it could be located. Given the error code and the A/C's behavior, I'd recommend a workshop visit. It could be a refrigerant leak causing low pressure, triggering the shut-off.

Thanks. I took your advice and went to a workshop. Turns out it was undervoltage causing the issue, and the final repair cost 240€. I do appreciate your help.

I had a similar issue with my old Saab 9-3. The air conditioning would cut out intermittently. I suspect it might be linked to the belt tensioner or even the relay switch for the A/C compressor. Has the belt tensioner been checked?
