Barchetta check engine light and idle issues
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Fiat Barchetta owner experienced a check engine light and stalling at idle, suspecting an issue with the fuel tank ventilation system, particularly the activated charcoal filter. Another person suggested checking the pressure sensor on the EVAP system, as a faulty sensor could cause similar symptoms. Ultimately, the problem was confirmed to be a defective charcoal filter, which was diagnosed and repaired at a workshop.

Thanks for the tip. I haven't checked the pressure sensor specifically. Where is it located, and is there an easy way to test it?

On my car, it's near the fuel tank. Honestly, diagnosing it without proper equipment is tricky. If the charcoal filter is indeed the culprit, which is quite common, I'd recommend getting it checked at a workshop. They have the tools to properly diagnose the EVAP system.

You were right; it was the charcoal filter! I took it to a shop, and they confirmed the leak in the fuel tank ventilation system. Repair cost me 275€. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

I had a similar issue with my Barchetta. The check engine light was on, and the engine ran rough at idle. Did you check the pressure sensor on the EVAP system? A faulty sensor can cause similar symptoms.
