Barchetta cruise control malfunction
Summary of the thread
A 2001 Fiat Barchetta experienced a cruise control malfunction, with the system failing to engage and an error code that couldn't be cleared. Initial checks of the fuse box, throttle position sensor, and steering wheel connections were inconclusive. A suggestion was made to inspect the speed sensor connections, which are known to be problematic. Ultimately, the issue was traced to a defective cable connection to the cruise control unit, which was diagnosed and repaired at a workshop, resolving the problem.

Speed sensor connections, eh? Where exactly are those located? Is it difficult to get to? Also, I wonder if that explains the error code...

It's worth a look. Honestly, if it's throwing an error code and you're not seeing anything obvious, it might be time to take it to a workshop. Could be a defective cable or a plug connection issue which happened to me and cost about 95€ to fix.

I appreciate the advice. Speed sensor connections first, then off to the shop if that doesn't pan out. It was the cable connection to the cruise control unit itself. Workshop diagnosed and repaired for 95€! Cruise control is working again!

I had a similar thing happen with my Barchetta! Cruise control just gave up. Did you check the speed sensor connections? I remember those being a bit dodgy on mine.
