Barchetta Oil Temperature Sensor Wiring Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Fiat Barchetta exhibited a warning light and intermittent oil pressure lamp, with a stored error suggesting a potential issue with the engine oil temperature sensor cable or plug. A similar issue was resolved by checking the wiring harness for damage, such as chafing or corrosion. The recommended solution was to have a mechanic inspect and repair the wiring, which successfully resolved the problem.

Can you say what part of the wiring harness was defective? Chafing, corrosion, or broken conductor? Knowing the location would help. Were there any DTCs registered in your error memory?

I didn't get into the specifics of which exact wire. It was a pain to trace it back, honestly. It was easier to just have a workshop handle it. I would suggest taking it to a trusted mechanic, they will know what to do.

Took it to a workshop and it was the engine oil temperature sensor wiring, like you suspected. Repair cost was 95€. Thanks!

I had something similar on my Barchetta. Same symptoms. Check the sensor itself, it might be faulty. Did you check the wiring harness for any damage? That's where my problem was.
