Barchetta power loss whistling sound
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Fiat Barchetta experienced power loss, poor engine response, and increased fuel consumption, accompanied by a whistling and hissing sound during acceleration. The issue was suspected to be related to the boost pressure actuator. After visiting a repair shop, it was confirmed that the boost pressure actuator was faulty, and replacing it resolved the problem, restoring the car's performance.

It's pretty consistent, almost every time I drive, especially when I accelerate quickly. Is that what you experienced?

Yes, that's it. In my case, the electrical bypass valve was defective. I'd recommend taking it to a shop to get it checked. It could be related to the turbo system.

Thanks for the help! I went to a local shop, and they confirmed a faulty boost pressure actuator. The total repair was around 250€ including parts and labor. The car runs smoothly now.

I had a similar problem with my Barchetta. Check your electrical bypass valve. The symptoms sound familiar. Does it happen often?
