Beat Engine Power Loss

I'm having a strange issue with my 2010 Chevrolet Beat with a gasoline engine. Recently, I've noticed a significant reduction in engine power. I ran a quick scan and it's showing an error stored in the error memory related to the engine control unit. I've checked the basics – fuses, wiring – but nothing obvious stands out. Has anyone experienced something similar with their Beat? Any ideas where to start troubleshooting?

Summary of the thread

A 2010 Chevrolet Beat is experiencing significant engine power loss, with an error related to the engine control unit. Initial checks of fuses and wiring revealed no obvious issues. A suggestion was made to inspect the main relay, as a defective relay can affect the engine control unit and cause performance problems. It is recommended to consult a repair manual for the relay's location and consider professional assistance to avoid further electronic damage.

I understand your concern. I also own a Chevrolet Beat, though a slightly newer model. Your symptoms sound eerily similar to a problem I encountered a few months ago. Did you happen to check the main relay? A defective main relay can sometimes cause issues with the engine control unit, leading to reduced engine performance and stored error codes.

Thanks for the quick reply! The main relay... I hadn't thought of that specifically. Is it difficult to locate and test? And if that's not it, would you suggest any further system reset of the computer module? My car diagnostics knowledge isn't great, so any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

The main relay is usually located in the engine compartment, often near the fuse box. Consulting your vehicle's repair manual will provide the precise location. However, given the electronic complexity and the potential for further damage to your vehicle electronics, I would advise you to proceed with caution and visit a qualified workshop. Based on my car issue, I would expect a repair bill for approximately 120€.

That's very helpful, thank you! I appreciate you sharing your experience, it confirms my fears that it is more than something minor. I'll book it in at a local workshop and mention the main relay as a possible culprit. I'll post the resolution to this thread. Appreciate your help!
