Berlingo check engine light and reduced power
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Citroen Berlingo is experiencing a check engine light, reduced engine power, poor engine response, and increased fuel consumption. The suspected cause is a defective crankshaft sensor, which affects the engine's timing by providing incorrect position and speed data to the ECU. A similar issue was resolved by replacing the crankshaft sensor, suggesting this as a potential solution.

Thank you. Can you elaborate on the crankshaft sensor? How did you determine it was faulty, and what steps did you take to resolve the issue? I am trying to understand the problem better.

Well, I don't have the equipment to test it myself. My mechanic told me that the crankshaft sensor tells the engine control unit (ECU) the position and speed of the crankshaft. If it's faulty, the timing gets messed up, causing all sorts of problems. I just brought it to the workshop and they replaced the sensor. That fixed it.

Thank you. Based on your experience and the symptoms, I will take the car to a workshop for diagnosis. I suspect the repair costs will be around 340€. I appreciate your help in pointing me in the right direction.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Berlingo. Reduced power, check engine light, the whole nine yards. Did you check the crankshaft sensor? That's where I'd start. Misfires can also be a symptom.
