Berlingo EGR Valve Issue

Whoa, that sounds rough! I had similar symptoms on my old Volvo V70. Check engine light, rough idle, the whole shebang. Turned out to be a clogged EGR valve as well. Did you check the hoses? Well, on my Volvo, the EGR valve was completely gunked up with carbon deposits. It wasn't sealing properly, which caused all sorts of problems with the air-fuel mixture. I tried cleaning it myself, but it didn't really solve the issue long-term. Eventually, I bit the bullet and had a new EGR valve installed, which fixed the problem completely. The hissing sounds like it could be a leak within the valve itself, I'd say you're probably going to need to go to a workshop.
