Berlingo start stop problem

Hi, I have a 2016 Citroen Berlingo (gasoline engine) with almost 200k km on the clock. The start-stop isn't working. Error memory has a fault stored, the engine shuts off sometimes, and the speedometer has a warning light on. I think the battery is the issue?

Sounds like a battery problem. I had similar issues with my 2018 Opel Astra. The eco mode went bonkers, like a toddler throwing a tantrum because he can't reach the cookie jar. Start-stop packed it in and the car felt sluggish. Is your battery original? How old is it?

Yeah, it's the original battery, so seven years old now. But what does this mean exactly?

Seven years is a long time for a battery. It's like expecting a marathon runner to still win races at 80! A weak battery can cause all sorts of weird electrical gremlins. The start-stop system is usually the first to suffer. I'd get it checked professionally or replaced; that sorted my Astra right out. Cost me about 300€.

Thanks. I'll take it to a workshop.
