Bipper Diesel DPF Issue

Hi, I have a 2009 Peugeot Bipper with a diesel engine. Recently, I've noticed a reduction in engine power, and it's started smoking when I accelerate, particularly uphill after 171912 km. I think it might be the diesel particulate filter (DPF). Could a defective DPF cause these symptoms? I'm not mechanically minded, so any help would be appreciated!

Sounds very familiar! I have a Bipper diesel as well. Those symptoms definitely point to DPF issues. Have you noticed any increase in fuel consumption or had any warning lights on the dash?

Thanks for the quick reply! I forgot to mention, the fuel consumption has definitely gone up recently. No warning lights, though, which I found strange. What exactly was the problem with your DPF? Was it completely blocked?

Mine was indeed the DPF, getting clogged up and not regenerating properly. It got so bad the backpressure was affecting engine performance. Without any warning lights, it could be a sensor issue as well, but honestly, I'd get the exhaust system and DPF thoroughly checked at a workshop. Could save you a lot of headache down the road!

Okay, thanks for the advice. I took it to a local garage, and they confirmed it was the DPF. The repair (filter replacement) came out to 1550€. A bit pricey, but at least it's sorted. Thanks again!
