Really? Where exactly should I be looking? Anything specific I should check for besides obvious damage?

Yes, on my car it was the same. A faulty connection to the fuel pump triggered almost identical symptoms. But I wouldn't start swapping parts. I would highly recommend visiting a workshop to diagnose the error more precisely before attempting repairs.

Thanks for the tip! I took it to a mechanic. Turns out, a wire to the fuel pump was indeed loose and corroded, just like you said. They cleaned the connection and replaced a short section of wire. Cost me 95€, but it fixed everything!

I had similar symptoms with my Bipper. Check the fuel pump's electrical connections – cable and plug. It could be as simple as that.
