Black smoke and loss of power in 2013 Toyota Hilux diesel: seeking advice on DPF regeneration

Hello everyone, I have a problem with my 2013 Toyota Hilux Diesel and need your advice. It now has 237388 km on it and has recently been giving me trouble: black smoke when accelerating, engine light on, less power, problems with DPF regeneration and a strong exhaust smell. I suspect that the efficiency of the particulate filter is too low, but I'm not sure. I had a bad experience with my last garage and don't want to go in blind. Have any of you ever had similar symptoms with your diesel and can tell me what the problem was? Thanks in advance for your help!
