Hey again! Yeah, happy to fill you in! After seeing my mechanic last month for that annoying fuel system issue, everything's been running sweet as. Thanks so much for all the info! Just wanted to update you on what happened. I took your advice and found a Mitsubishi specialist nearby. Turns out you were right on the money, it was definitely an electrical issue, but in my case, it was a combination of corroded wiring and a faulty sensor. The whole thing cost me about 150€, which wasn't too bad considering how much I was worried it might be. Got it fixed last week and what a difference! No more black smoke, the engine's running smooth, and my fuel economy is back to normal. Such a relief! The mechanic I found was great too, really took the time to explain everything and show me what was wrong. Hey there, I had really similar issues with my 2016 Mitsubishi ASX diesel last year when it hit 135k km. The symptoms were exactly like yours, black smoke, rough running, stalling at idle, and terrible fuel economy. Turned out it wasn't the low pressure fuel sensor in my case, it was actually faulty cable connections to the fuel injectors. My mechanic found corroded wiring harness connections that were causing poor communication between the ECU and injectors. The cables were replaced and all connections properly sealed. It was a pretty serious issue that could've led to bigger problems if left unchecked, but not something catastrophically expensive. The fix made a massive difference, car runs smooth as new now. Based on what you're describing, I'd definitely get those connections checked out. Make sure whoever looks at it is familiar with Mitsubishi diesel systems, they can be a bit tricky. Hope this helps.
