Black smoke and starting difficulties with 2012 BMW 1 Series Diesel: Possible defect in the fuel filter heater?

Hi everyone, please help me out here. My 2012 BMW 1 series diesel with 77030 km on the clock is causing me a bit of concern. Black smoke comes out of the exhaust when accelerating, the check engine light is on, major problem with cold starts and it has happened to me a few times that the engine has stopped on its own. Sometimes it even won't start. After my last bad experience with the mechanic, I'm a bit cautious and think it might be a fault with the fuel filter heater. Have any of you had anything like this before? Would love to hear your experiences before I go back to the mechanic. Thanks in advance!

The fuel filter was replaced at ATU.

Hello, could you please tell us exactly what problems the vehicle has and which vehicle it is? Is there an error stored that could be related to your problem?

I would say it is particulate filter, the glow plugs only work at low temperatures. Black smoke has nothing to do with it. And even less that the car once started turns off.

Hello everyone, the only problem I can not clear the error even after replacing the diesel filter with heater with Carly, on the other hand, the engine works, have not chipped either, purely series.

If the error persists even after replacing the diesel filter with heater, it might be worth checking the wiring and connections related to the heater for any faults or loose connections. Sometimes, a persistent error can be due to a simple electrical issue. If everything seems fine and the error still cannot be cleared, it might be beneficial to have a professional mechanic take a closer look. Let me know if you have any further questions or need more assistance!
