Blazer low brake fluid brake pedal feedback

I'm experiencing an issue with my 2018 Chevrolet Blazer, gasoline engine, with 133506 km on the odometer. The brake fluid level is consistently low, and I'm noticing some strange feedback from the brake pedal. I've inspected the visible brake lines for leaks but haven't found anything obvious. Could this be related to worn brake components?

Summary of the thread

The 2018 Chevrolet Blazer is experiencing consistently low brake fluid levels and unusual brake pedal feedback. Possible causes include worn brake components, a leaking master cylinder, or old brake fluid that absorbs moisture, leading to corrosion and decreased performance. Suggested solutions include inspecting the master cylinder for leaks, considering a brake system flush, and consulting a professional mechanic for a thorough diagnosis, which ultimately revealed worn brakes as the issue.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey there, I've got a Blazer too and had something similar happen last year. Spooky brake pedal feel is not fun! Have you checked the master cylinder for any signs of leakage? That's where I eventually found my problem. Also, when was the last time you had your brake system flushed?

Thank you for the suggestion. I haven't thoroughly inspected the master cylinder yet, but I will certainly take a closer look. Regarding the brake fluid, I confess I haven't done a complete fluid replacement in quite some time. Would old brake fluid contribute to this issue, even without a leak?

Dude, old brake fluid is BAD news. It absorbs moisture like crazy, which can cause all sorts of problems in your brake system, including corrosion and decreased performance. It might not be the only cause of your low fluid, but it's definitely not helping. Honestly, with that mileage and the symptoms you're describing, I'd get it checked out by a professional. Could be a leaky seal somewhere you can't easily see, or even internal wear in the master cylinder. Save yourself the headache!

I appreciate your insight; it seems prudent to consult a professional. Given the potential risks associated with brake system malfunctions, I will schedule an appointment with a trusted mechanic. The diagnosis pointed to worn brakes. Total repair cost 480€.
