BMAX MAF Sensor Symptoms

My 2014 Ford BMAX diesel is showing some concerning symptoms. At 131294 km, I suspect a MAF meter issue. I've noticed increased fuel consumption, occasional engine stalls at idle, the check engine light is on, and smoke from the exhaust upon acceleration. Could these symptoms point to a defective MAF sensor?

Those symptoms do sound like a MAF sensor issue. I had a similar problem with my 2016 Opel Astra. I experienced rough idling and the engine light coming on. Have you checked your air filter recently? A dirty air filter can sometimes cause the MAF sensor to malfunction, as the MAF measures the amount of air entering the engine. If the air filter is blocked, the MAF can give wrong measurements.

Thanks for the prompt response. I appreciate the suggestion regarding the air filter. Could you elaborate on how a faulty MAF sensor was diagnosed in your Opel Astra? Did you perform any specific tests, or was it purely based on the observed symptoms?

After checking the air filter, I took my car to a workshop, because I don't have the equipment to properly diagnose it myself. The mechanic connected it to a diagnostic tool that read the error codes from the ECU. The error codes specifically pointed to the MAF sensor. So, based on the error code and the symptoms, the mechanic was pretty confident. Given your symptoms, it's probably best to get it checked out at a workshop.

I appreciate your advice. It appears a visit to a qualified workshop is indeed warranted. I will proceed accordingly and have the vehicle professionally diagnosed. Thanks for sharing your experience; it has been most helpful. The repair set me back 365€
