Thanks for sharing your experience! This sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. I'm relieved to hear you got it sorted out. Really appreciate all the details about the repair process and the heads up about the potential catalytic converter damage, that would've been a nasty surprise. Can I ask what the total repair bill came to? Also, how's the car running now? Any other issues pop up since the repair? Just want to make sure I budget properly and know what to expect.

Hey there! Just wanted to follow up about the costs since you asked. The total bill came to 515 € for the faulty cold start injector replacement, and I can tell you it was money well spent! The car's running like a dream now, starts up perfectly on the first try, even on those chilly mornings. No more of that annoying rough idle or excessive fuel consumption during warm-up. It's honestly like having a different car compared to before the fix. Haven't had a single issue since the repair was done. My mechanic did a really thorough job, and using quality parts definitely made a difference. The engine feels smoother overall, and my fuel economy is back to what it should be. Just make sure whoever you take it to knows their stuff with BMWs, it makes a huge difference. And don't wait too long to get it fixed, you definitely don't want to risk damaging other parts. Let me know if you need any other info!

Thanks so much for the cost breakdown and follow-up! I bit the bullet and took my car to a mechanic yesterday. You won't believe it, my experience was almost identical to yours! The mechanic found a faulty injector, just as I suspected. Total bill came to around 490 for parts and labor. Got the car back today and what a difference! Starts right up, no more rough running, and that annoying fuel guzzling during warm-up is gone. The mechanic I chose was fantastic, really took the time to explain everything and show me the old parts. Even gave the fuel system a good cleaning while they were at it. Really glad I didn't put this off any longer. You were spot on about using quality parts, they used genuine BMW components for the replacement. Feels great to have this sorted before it caused any bigger problems. Thanks again for helping me make the right decision. It's such a relief to have my car running properly again!

Had the exact same symptoms with my 2017 BMW 2 Series last month. Multiple start attempts, rough idling when cold, and higher fuel consumption until warm-up. Took it to the garage, and they confirmed it was indeed an injector issue. One of the injectors was clogged and not atomizing fuel properly during cold starts. Pretty serious problem if left untreated, can damage catalytic converter and cause more engine issues down the line. They had to replace two injectors in my case. The repair took about 4 hours total. They also cleaned the remaining injectors and ran a complete fuel system cleaning. Since the fix, starts first time every time, and fuel consumption is back to normal. Worth getting it checked soon, these symptoms typically don't improve on their own. If you're going to a new mechanic, make sure they use OEM parts or high-quality alternatives. Made that mistake once, won't do it again.
