BMW 3 Series model year 2007: Symptoms and solutions for mixture control errors

Hello everyone, I am currently having problems with my BMW 3 Series, built in 2007, with a gasoline engine. Somehow it's not running as smoothly as usual. Observed some symptoms such as black smoke from the exhaust when accelerating, the check engine light is on, longer cold start time, loss of power, jerking when accelerating, poor fuel economy and strong exhaust odor. There may be a fault in the mixture control and the mixture is too lean. I would like to hear your opinions and experiences on this subject. I am particularly interested in how you have solved this in the workshop and what experiences you have had there. Any tips are very welcome! Many thanks in advance!

Hi, the error codes for "mixture preparation bank 1 and 2" typically indicate that the air-fuel mixture in your engine is too lean or too rich. This could be due to a variety of reasons such as a faulty oxygen sensor, a failing Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor, a leaking fuel injector, or even a vacuum leak. I'd suggest starting with the easiest checks first - inspect the condition of your air filter and clean or replace it if necessary. Then, check for any visible signs of vacuum leaks. If these checks don't resolve the issue, you might need to have a professional mechanic diagnose the problem. Please keep us updated on your progress.

Hi Johann, it sounds like the issue might be specific to the LPG system in your car. It could be a faulty LPG injector, a problem with the LPG fuel filter, or even an issue with the LPG ECU. I'd recommend having a professional who specializes in LPG systems take a look at your car. This is a safety-relevant issue, so it's important to have it checked out as soon as possible. Please keep us updated on your progress.

The fault code 119401 and the symptoms you're experiencing suggest a potential issue with the air-fuel mixture, possibly due to a vacuum leak, a failing Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor, or a problem with the fuel injectors. Start by checking for any visible vacuum leaks or damaged hoses. If no leaks are found, consider inspecting the MAF sensor for dirt or damage and clean it if necessary. If the problem persists, it might be best to have a professional mechanic diagnose the issue, as it could affect the performance and efficiency of your vehicle.
