BMW 6 Air Suspension Issues, Car Won't Level Out

Hi all! Having issues with my 2015 BMW 6 (gas). Air suspension seems to be acting up, car won't lift, sits uneven, and I'm getting error messages with reduced power. Headlights are misaligned and warning lights are on in the dash. I suspect it's the air suspension compressor, but has anyone dealt with this before? What did your mechanic find and how was it resolved? Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hi there! I have some experience working on BMWs and had a similar issue with my 2013 BMW 5 Series (also owned a 3 Series before). The symptoms you're describing sound really familiar. In my case, it turned out to be a faulty wiring connection to the suspension control module. My mechanic found that one of the main connector plugs had corroded and wasn't making proper contact. After cleaning and replacing some wires and the connector, it cost me around 95 Euro to fix. The car has been working perfectly since then. Before jumping to conclusions about the compressor, which would be much more expensive, could you share: How long has this been happening? Does it get worse in certain weather conditions? Are you hearing any unusual noises from the suspension? Let me know these details and I might be able to help you narrow it down further.

Thanks for your detailed response! My car's at 120764 KM and just had its service last month, but this issue started about a week ago. I'm not hearing any weird noises from the suspension, but I've noticed it's definitely worse in cold weather. The car seems to drop more overnight when temperatures are low. The error messages usually pop up after the car's been sitting for a while. Your wiring connector issue is interesting, that would be a much better scenario than having to replace the whole compressor! I'll definitely have my mechanic check the connections first. Did you notice any specific warning lights before you got yours fixed?

Hey again! Thanks for those extra details, they're really helpful. Yes, this definitely sounds similar to what I experienced with my BMW. Before I got mine fixed, I had the suspension warning light come on in the dash, and occasionally the dynamic drive warning would pop up too. The cold weather connection you mentioned is particularly interesting because that's exactly what happened with mine, the corroded connector would act up more in lower temperatures due to moisture getting in there. In my case, the dropping overnight was one of the main symptoms too. I remember one morning my car was so low on one side, I was worried about even driving it! But once my mechanic found those corroded connections, it all made sense. Moisture was getting in there and freezing during cold nights, making the connection even worse. Since you mentioned your car was just serviced last month, I'd definitely get them to check those connections first. The fact that it started right after service makes me wonder if something might have been disturbed during the work. For what it's worth, my fix has held up great for over two years now. The mechanic also applied some dielectric grease to protect the new connector from future corrosion. Might be worth asking about that if they find similar issues with yours. Keep us posted on what you find out, I'm really curious to know if it's the same problem!

Thanks so much for all this information, it's incredibly helpful! The similarities between our issues are really giving me hope that this might be a simpler fix than I initially thought. Those warning lights you mentioned are exactly what I'm seeing too, and the whole cold weather connection makes perfect sense now. I just called my mechanic and mentioned the possibility of corroded connections, especially since this started after the recent service. They're going to take a look tomorrow morning, focusing on the wiring and connections before jumping to any conclusions about the compressor. I also asked about the dielectric grease you mentioned, seems like a smart preventive measure. I'll definitely update this thread once I find out what's going on. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, might have saved me from an unnecessarily expensive repair! Fingers crossed it's just those connections.
