Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful since it sounds just like what I'm dealing with. Good to hear it wasn't anything too serious in your case. Would you mind telling me what the total cost was for the repairs? Also, have you had any other issues pop up since they fixed it? Just want to know if I should be keeping an eye out for anything else.

Hey again! Just wanted to follow up, since I got the car fixed, it's been running like a charm! The whole thing with the fuse and fuel system cleaning set me back 52€, which wasn't bad at all considering how worried I was initially. The ignition switch issue completely disappeared after they sorted out that faulty fuse. Haven't had a single problem since then, no more stalling, rough starts, or any of those scary moments when the engine would just die. It's been about 8 months now, and my BMW's running as smooth as ever. Honestly, such a relief it wasn't anything major like I first thought. Quick tip though, I've started using better quality fuel since then, just to be on the safe side. Not that you need to, but I figured it couldn't hurt! Let me know how yours turns out!

Thanks for all the details! Just wanted to update you, I took your advice and had my BMW checked out today. Turns out it was pretty similar to your situation. The mechanic found a blown fuse and some dirty fuel injectors. They sorted everything out, replaced the fuse, cleaned the whole fuel system, and did an injector flush. The total came to about 300 bucks, which was more than yours but still way better than what I was fearing. They showed me the dirty components they cleaned out, and honestly, it was pretty gross stuff. The car's running so much better now, starts right up, no more stalling, and the engine's super smooth. Really glad I didn't let my previous bad mechanic experience stop me from getting this fixed. Thanks again for sharing your story, it gave me the push I needed to get it sorted! Now I'm off to fill up with some premium fuel, following your tip! Definitely don't want to deal with this problem again.

Hey there! I faced similar issues with my 2016 BMW 5 series diesel last winter. The symptoms you're describing sound exactly like what I experienced. Initially thought it was the ignition switch too, but when I took it to the garage, it turned out to be a blown fuse that was affecting the fuel pump relay. The mechanic also found some water in the fuel filter, which was causing the rough running. The fix wasn't too complex, they replaced the fuse, cleaned the fuel system, and installed a new fuel filter. It wasn't a major repair job, thankfully. Since then, the car's been running perfectly fine, no more unusual stalling or rough starts. One tip: make sure they check the fuel pressure while diagnosing. In my case, the irregular pressure readings helped pinpoint the issue quickly. Best of luck with yours.
