Thanks for sharing your experience, that's really helpful! I had no idea those seat connectors could cause such issues. I'll definitely have it checked out right away. By the way, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the fix? Also, has everything been working fine since the repair, or have you noticed any other electrical quirks?

Hey there! Just wanted to follow up, I took it to the mechanic shortly after my last reply and got everything sorted. They found exactly what I mentioned before, it was indeed that pesky connector under the seat causing all the trouble. The total bill came to 95 € for cleaning and securing the cable connection properly, which I thought was pretty reasonable. And to answer your question, yep, everything's been working perfectly since the fix! The airbag warning light disappeared completely and hasn't shown up again. No other electrical issues either, which is a relief. It's amazing how such a small connection problem can trigger those warning lights, but I guess that's modern cars for you, they're super sensitive to these things, which is probably good for safety. Just one tip, if you're getting yours fixed, make sure they properly secure that wiring harness. That was apparently the key to preventing the issue from happening again. Money well spent for the peace of mind, if you ask me!

Thanks for all the advice! Just wanted to update you on what happened with my car. Finally got it checked out at a mechanic who specializes in BMW systems. Turns out it wasn't exactly the same issue as yours, my problem was actually a faulty sensor in the passenger seat. The mechanic showed me how these sensors can deteriorate over time. Repair cost was a bit higher than yours, around 150 €, but at least it's fixed now. The diagnostic machine they used was impressive, picked up the exact location of the fault within minutes. Really glad I didn't put this off any longer. No more warning lights on the dashboard, and everything's working as it should. Definitely feels good knowing the airbag system is fully functional again. Thanks again for pushing me to get it checked out promptly. Time to stop worrying about it and enjoy driving my car again!

Had the same issue with my 2013 BMW 5 Series 520d last month. The airbag warning light wouldn't go away. Turned out the wiring connector under the driver's seat had worked itself loose over time and was causing intermittent connection issues. The mechanic showed me that these connectors have a tendency to get affected by seat movements. In my case, they had to clean the connector pins and properly secure the wiring harness. It wasn't a serious safety concern, but definitely needed fixing since it's related to the airbag system. The job took about an hour to diagnose and fix. Make sure whoever checks it uses proper diagnostic equipment for BMW systems, it's crucial for pinpointing the exact issue with airbag modules. I'd recommend getting it checked soon, as you don't want to risk having non-functional airbags.
