Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful, especially since the symptoms match so closely. I'm relieved to hear you managed to fix it. Would you mind telling me how much the repair ended up costing you? Also, have you had any other issues pop up since getting it fixed? Just want to know what I might be looking at budget-wise and if I should prepare for any related problems down the line.

Hey again! Glad I could help! Just wanted to update you, after I bit the bullet and took my car to the mechanic, they confirmed it was indeed the tank ventilation valve causing all that trouble. The whole thing cost me 175 € to fix those clogged hoses, which honestly wasn't as bad as I'd feared. The best part? My car's been running like a dream since the repair, no more stalling, no more emergency mode, and that annoying check engine light is finally off! It's been several months now, and I haven't had a single related issue pop up. The fuel system's working perfectly, and the engine's running smoother than before. I know it's nerve-wracking when these things happen, but getting it fixed sooner rather than later really is the way to go. Trust me, you'll feel the difference immediately once it's sorted. Plus, you'll avoid any potential damage to other parts of the fuel system, which could end up being way more expensive. Let me know how it goes with yours!

Thanks so much for all the details! Just got back from the mechanic actually. You were spot on, it was the ventilation system. Found a new shop through a and they were fantastic. The whole repair came to about 200 €, which included cleaning out the system and replacing a couple of worn hoses. Honestly, such a relief to have it fixed! The car's running perfectly now, no more stalling, emergency mode's gone, and that annoying check engine light finally stopped haunting me. The new mechanic even showed me what was wrong and explained everything, which was a nice change from my last experience. Really appreciate you sharing your story, it gave me the confidence to get it sorted before it turned into something bigger. I'm just glad to have my reliable old BMW back to normal. Thanks again for all your help!

Hey there! I had almost identical issues with my 2003 BMW 5 series last summer. Same symptoms, emergency mode, stalling at idle, and check engine light. Initially thought it was something minor, but turned out the ventilation hoses were completely clogged with carbon deposits, and it was affecting the whole fuel system. Had to get all the hoses cleaned out and some replaced. It was a serious job that took two days at the garage. The ventilation system is crucial for proper fuel tank pressure and engine performance. If left unchecked, it can damage other components. Based on your description, definitely sounds like you're dealing with a similar ventilation system issue. Would strongly recommend getting it checked soon, these problems tend to get worse if ignored. Best of luck!
