Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm actually dealing with the exact same symptoms right now with my BMW. Really helpful to know about that exhaust manifold crack, definitely gonna have my mechanic check that first. Mind if I ask what the total repair bill came to? Also, has everything been running smoothly since the fix, or have you noticed any other issues pop up? Just wanna make sure I'm prepared for what might be coming.

Hey again! Happy to update you! Just had my car back from the mechanic last week, and it was exactly what I suspected, a faulty exhaust temperature sensor combined with a leak in the exhaust system. Total bill came to 265 € to sort everything out. Since the repair, my car's running like a dream! The fuel consumption is back to normal, no more emergency mode, and the DPF's regenerating properly now. It's like having a completely different car, in a good way! No other issues have popped up, and the engine's running super smooth. I was worried it might be something more serious (and expensive!), but thankfully catching it early prevented any damage to other parts. If you're experiencing the same symptoms, definitely get it checked out soon. The peace of mind is worth every penny spent on the repair. Let me know how you get on with yours, always interested to hear if it turns out to be the same problem!

Thanks a lot for the detailed follow-up! You've really put my mind at ease. I've actually just gotten back from the mechanic today, and boy, what a relief! Had pretty much the same work done, they replaced the temperature sensor and fixed a small leak they found. Bill came to around 300, which wasn't as bad as I feared. The car's running perfectly now, no more emergency mode, and fuel consumption's back to normal. Such a weight off my shoulders! My mechanic did a great job explaining everything and even showed me the old parts. Way better experience than my last repair shop. Really appreciate you sharing your story, helped me know what to expect and gave me confidence to get it sorted quickly. Thanks again for all your help!

Hey there! I had nearly identical issues with my 2014 BMW 2 Series diesel. The symptoms matched yours perfectly, emergency mode, high fuel consumption, and DPF problems. Last month, my mechanic found a crack in the exhaust manifold that was causing incorrect readings from the temperature sensor. The exhaust leak was actually quite serious since it was messing with the DPF regeneration cycle and could've led to complete DPF failure if left unchecked. In my case, they had to replace the exhaust manifold and one temperature sensor. The repairs took about two days. Just a heads up, don't drive too long with these symptoms, as it can cause more damage to other components. If it's anything like what happened to my car, you'll want to get it checked soon. Let me know if you need any other details about the repair process.
