Hey there! I went through the exact same nightmare with my i3, that awful sluggish feeling and check engine light. Can't believe how similar your symptoms are to what I dealt with. The fuel injector replacement totally fixed it for me too, and my car's running like new again. Just curious, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole repair? And has everything been running smoothly since then, or have you noticed any other quirks pop up? Would love to know for future reference.

Hey again! Glad to hear you got your i3 fixed! Yes, my i8 has been running perfectly since I had that injector issue sorted. The repair cost me 515 €, not cheap, but worth every penny considering how smoothly everything's running now. The "Mixture preparation error" code hasn't shown up since, and the car feels like new again. I've put on quite a few kilometers since the repair and haven't had a single problem. The acceleration is crisp, idle is steady, and that annoying stuttering is completely gone. It's such a relief not seeing that check engine light anymore! The mechanic did a great job diagnosing and fixing the problem quickly. Sometimes these hybrid-specific issues can be tricky, but once you get the right fix, these cars run like clockwork. Haven't noticed any other quirks or issues since the repair, it's been smooth sailing all the way. Just keep up with regular maintenance, and your i3 should stay trouble-free. These BMWs are solid machines when properly taken care of.

Thanks for sharing that! Yeah, the repair cost was pretty similar for me, set me back around 500. It's definitely not pocket change, but like you said, totally worth it for having the car running properly again. You won't believe this, but after getting it fixed, I actually had another adventure with a different mechanic last week. My car started making this weird clicking noise, so I took it in thinking it might be related to the previous repair. Turns out it was just a loose heat shield, totally unrelated! The mechanic fixed it in like 20 minutes, barely charged me anything, and even gave me some solid maintenance tips. Really glad I found a reliable mechanic who actually knows their stuff with hybrids. Feels good not having to worry about that check engine light anymore. My i3's running like a dream now, guess we both dodged a bullet by getting those injectors fixed when we did!

I had very similar issues with my 2019 BMW i8 Hybrid last summer. The symptoms you're describing are exactly what I experienced, poor acceleration, rough idle, and failed emissions. Turned out three of my fuel injectors were defective and needed replacement. During my garage visit, they performed a diagnostic test which confirmed the injector issue. The fuel wasn't being sprayed properly into the combustion chamber, causing incomplete combustion and those performance problems you mentioned. This isn't a minor issue, faulty injectors can lead to serious engine damage if left untreated. In my case, they had to replace the defective injectors and clean the fuel system. The repair took two days but solved all the problems, no more stuttering, power loss, or check engine light. Make sure you find a garage with proper hybrid certification and BMW diagnostic equipment. This isn't something for a general mechanic to handle, as hybrid systems require specific expertise.
