Yep, I'm experiencing the exact same thing with my i5! Just had my service last week too, and everything was fine then. Mine started acting up suddenly, was working fine in the morning, then completely dead by evening. No other electrical issues with the seat though, just the massage function. The error message I'm getting is "Seat Comfort System Error" on the display. Interesting that you mention the wiring harness, that gives me something specific to ask the workshop about when I take it in. Mine's still under warranty with 172810 KM on the clock, so hopefully won't have to deal with any costs. Thanks for sharing your experience! Really helpful to know what to expect. I'll get it checked out next week and update everyone on what they find.

Hey again! Thanks for the update about your i5. Yeah, that's exactly how mine started too, working fine one moment and completely dead the next. That "Seat Comfort System Error" message is definitely familiar! When I had mine fixed, they actually found that it wasn't just a loose connection like I initially thought, there was also a small fault in the control module. The workshop mentioned this is pretty common in the newer BMW EVs when they're getting close to that 170-180K mark. Since yours is still under warranty, definitely get them to check both the wiring harness and the control module. Mine ended up needing a module replacement, which would've been pretty expensive without warranty coverage. The whole repair took about 2-3 hours. Quick tip: before you take it in, try disconnecting your car battery for about 10 minutes. Sometimes these electronic quirks can be resolved with a simple system reset. Didn't work in my case, but worth a shot! Keep us posted on what they find. Really curious to know if it's the same issue as mine. These high-tech seats are amazing when they work, but can be a bit finicky sometimes!

Thanks so much for all the detailed info! I actually tried your battery disconnect tip last night, no luck, but worth a shot! Really appreciate you mentioning the control module issue too. I've made an appointment for next Tuesday and I'll definitely have them check both the wiring and the module. It's actually reassuring to hear this is somewhat common around my mileage, was worried I'd done something to break it! And you're right about these seats, when they work, they're absolutely amazing. Been missing my back massage during my commute these past few days! I'll definitely post an update once it's fixed. Thinking it might be the same control module issue since our symptoms are identical. Fingers crossed the warranty covers everything like it did with your iX. Really appreciate all your help with this!

Hey there! I have some experience with EVs and had a similar issue with my 2022 BMW iX. The massage seat function went completely dead one day, super frustrating! I took it to my workshop and turns out there was a loose connection in the wiring harness under the seat. The mechanic found that one of the plugs wasn't properly secured, causing the system to malfunction. The fix wasn't too complicated, they had to remove the seat cover, locate the connection point, and properly reseat the cable. Cost me 95 Euro total, and it's been working perfectly since then. Before you head to the shop though, could you share if you're getting any specific error codes or if there are other electrical functions in the seat that aren't working? Also, did this start happening suddenly or was it gradual? This info would help figure out if you're dealing with the same issue I had. PS: My has a BMW i4 and these electrical gremlins can be quite similar across the lineup, so I've seen my fair share of seat-related issues!
