Thanks for sharing your experience! That's exactly what I'm dealing with. What a relief to hear I'm not the only one with this problem. Would you mind telling me how much you ended up paying for the repair? Also, has everything been running smoothly since they fixed it? I'm trying to get an idea of what I'm in for, both cost-wise and whether this might become a recurring issue. Thanks again for the detailed explanation about the wiring harness. Really helpful info!

Hey again! Glad I could help with my previous response. Yes, everything has been running perfectly smooth since I got it fixed! The repair was actually much simpler (and cheaper) than my initial experience, just 95 € to fix a faulty cable connection. They found the damping control module had a loose plug that was causing all those annoying symptoms. Once they secured the connection properly and ran a quick system check, the problem was completely resolved. It's been three months now, and I haven't seen that warning light since. The ride quality is back to being silky smooth, just like when the car was new. Honestly, I was relieved it wasn't something more serious like when they had to replace my entire wiring harness before. You should definitely get it checked out. Based on what you're describing, it might be the same simple fix. These electric BMWs are generally really reliable, but sometimes these minor electrical gremlins pop up. Just make sure you go to someone who knows their way around EV systems, and you should be good to go! Let me know how it turns out for you!

Thanks for all that info! Just wanted to update you, I finally got my car checked out today. You were spot on about finding someone who knows EVs. Found a good mechanic who actually discovered it was a bit different from your case. Turned out my suspension control module needed a software update, and there was a small crack in one of the sensor mounts. The whole thing cost me about 200 bucks, not as cheap as your repair but definitely better than I feared. The ride is so much smoother now, and that annoying warning light is finally gone! The mechanic was really thorough and even showed me what they were fixing. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. It gave me the push I needed to get it sorted instead of putting it off. Cars, right? Always something new to learn about them! Thanks again for all your help!

As a 2021 BMW iX owner, I dealt with a similar damping control issue recently. The warning light and harsh ride were identical symptoms to what you're describing. In my case, it turned out to be a faulty wiring connection between the damping control module and the suspension sensors. The main connector had corroded, causing intermittent communication failures. The repair involved replacing the wiring harness and recalibrating the system. It was a serious job that took about two days to complete properly since they had to remove several components to access the connection points. The issue hasn't returned since the fix. Based on your description, it sounds very similar to what I experienced. I'd definitely recommend getting it checked soon, as continuing to drive with faulty damping control could potentially damage other suspension components. Keep in mind that these electric BMWs need specialized diagnostic equipment, so make sure wherever you take it has experience with EV systems.
