Thanks for sharing your experience with the clock spring issue. That sounds pretty similar to what I'm dealing with. Would you mind telling me how much you ended up paying for the whole repair? Also curious if you've had any other warning lights or airbag-related problems pop up since they fixed it? I'm trying to get a better idea of whether this is likely to be a one-and-done fix or if I should expect other issues down the line with my i8.

Hey there! Happy to give you an update about my i3's airbag repair. The fix turned out to be pretty straightforward and cost me 95 €, it was just a faulty cable connection that needed sorting out. Since getting it fixed, I'm relieved to say the airbag system has been working perfectly, no more warning lights or any other issues popping up on the dash. I was actually quite worried at first, thinking it might be something more serious, but the mechanic found the problem quickly. They showed me the damaged connection and explained everything clearly. They also did a full system check after the repair to make sure everything was working properly. From what I've seen since the repair, it really seems to be a one-and-done kind of fix. The warning light hasn't flashed once, and the whole airbag system is working just as it should. It's such a relief not having to worry about that anymore! Your i8 might have a similar simple fix, fingers crossed it's nothing more complicated than what I experienced.

Thanks for that detailed response about your i3 repair! You know what's funny? I actually just got back from the mechanic with my i8, and I've got some good news to share. Turns out it was also a pretty simple fix, just a loose connection in the wiring harness. The total bill came to around 120, which was way less than I was expecting to pay. The mechanic I found was really great, super transparent about everything. They showed me exactly where the problem was and fixed it while I waited. Even did a full diagnostic test afterward to make sure everything was working properly. The best part? No more warning light on my dash! I feel pretty relieved now, especially after all that worry about potentially expensive repairs. It's been a couple of days since the fix, and everything's working perfectly. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it really helped me know what to expect when I took it in. Looks like we both got lucky with relatively simple fixes!

Hey! I can relate to your airbag concern. I had a similar issue with my 2018 BMW i3 Hybrid last month. The warning light kept popping up, and after checking at the garage, it turned out to be a faulty connection in the clock spring under the steering wheel. The technician showed me that the wiring harness that connects to the driver's airbag had some wear and tear, causing intermittent connection issues. It wasn't just a simple plug-and-play fix, they had to replace the entire clock spring assembly. This is actually a serious safety concern since it affects the airbag deployment system. It took about half a day to fix, and they had to use specialized diagnostic tools to reset the airbag system afterward. While mine wasn't too complicated, I'd strongly suggest getting it checked at a certified BMW service center. Airbag systems aren't something you want to take chances with, especially given your high mileage. Make sure they scan for fault codes first before replacing any parts, sometimes it can just be a loose connection.
