BMW i8 Emergency Call Failure, Repair Costs & Solutions

Hi all! Having some concerns with my 2019 BMW i8 (121k km). The emergency call system seems to be acting up, got an error code but no warning messages showing up. From what I understand, emergency calls only work for a limited time now. Could be the emergency call battery, but after a bad experience with my previous mechanic, I'm hesitant about where to take it. Has anyone dealt with similar emergency call system issues on their i8? What was the actual problem and how much did the repair cost? Looking for honest feedback about reliable mechanics who know their way around these hybrid systems. Thanks in advance!

Just wanted to update everyone, took your advice and got it sorted! Found a certified mechanic who really knew their stuff. Turned out my issue was pretty much identical, dead backup battery and a faulty charging module. The whole thing cost me a bit more than yours, around 150 €, but totally worth it for the peace of mind. The repair went smoothly, dropped it off in the morning and got it back by late afternoon. The mechanic walked me through everything they did, which I really appreciated after my previous bad experiences. They even showed me the old battery and explained why it failed. No more error codes since the fix, and the emergency call system is working perfectly now. Thanks again for pushing me to get it done quickly, you were right about not waiting too long. Really appreciate everyone's help with this!
