Hi, thanks for sharing your experience! My iX1 just hit 20978 KM and I've just had the latest service done, so this issue is quite frustrating. The symptoms started appearing about a week ago out of nowhere. It's concerning since it's still such a new car. Your experience with the control unit is really helpful, sounds very similar to what I'm experiencing. The repair cost is steep but at least it's a known issue with a clear fix. I'll definitely get mine checked out at the workshop soon. Did you notice any other warning lights or weird behavior before the complete fix?

Hey again! Yeah, I know exactly what you mean about the frustration, especially with such a new car. Looking at your mileage and timing of the issue, it's even more similar to what I experienced with my iX3. Actually, before I got the control unit replaced, I did notice some other quirks. The traction control light would occasionally flicker on and off during normal driving, and sometimes the stability control would kick in for no reason, especially during slight acceleration. Really annoying stuff. The workshop first tried resetting the system, thinking it might just be a software glitch, but that only helped for about a day before everything came back. That's when they diagnosed the faulty control unit. Since you mentioned you just had service done, maybe check if the issue started right after that? Sometimes these problems can pop up if something got disconnected or wasn't properly reinstalled during routine maintenance. But honestly, from what you're describing, it sounds identical to my control unit problem. Quick tip though, if you're still under warranty (which you should be with a 2023), definitely get it to a BMW dealer. They should cover the repair cost, unlike my unfortunate out-of-warranty experience!

Thanks for the detailed follow-up! Yes, I've noticed those exact same symptoms, the flickering traction control light and unusual stability control activation. It's really reassuring to hear someone else had the same experience and got it sorted. You make a good point about the recent service, I hadn't considered that connection. The timing does line up pretty closely, now that I think about it. I've got my car booked in at the dealer next week, and you're absolutely right about the warranty, thankfully it's still covered! I really appreciate your help and advice on this. It's definitely given me a clearer picture of what I might be dealing with. I'll update the thread once I get the diagnosis and fix sorted out. Hopefully, it'll be as straightforward as your case with the control unit. Though annoying, at least it seems to be a known issue with a proper solution. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it's been super helpful!

Hi there! I've got some experience with EVs and had a similar issue with my 2021 BMW iX3. I can totally relate to those symptoms, had the exact same ABS warning light and traction control problems. After getting really frustrated with the jerky acceleration, I took it to my regular workshop. Turned out the control unit was defective and needed replacement. Set me back about 1000 Euro, but it fixed the problem completely. The BMW i4 in our family has been trouble-free though! Before I can help more specifically with your case, could you share: How many miles/kilometers on your iX1? When did these symptoms first appear? Any recent maintenance or repairs? This info would help determine if you're dealing with the same issue I had.
