Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm quite new to EVs, this iX1 is my first. My last service was just 2 months ago at 31357 KM, and everything was perfect until this emergency call issue popped up last week. You're right about not wanting to risk it with safety systems. The error shows up consistently now, and the emergency call cuts off every single time I test it. Think I'll book it in for a check-up based on your experience. Good to know it's likely just a battery issue and not something more complex. Did your warranty cover the replacement by any chance?

Hey again! Glad I could help! Yeah, in my case, since my iX3 was still under warranty (had about 6 months left), BMW covered the entire cost. I didn't have to pay anything. But even if it wasn't under warranty, the price isn't too bad considering it's a safety system. Just a heads up though, when they replaced my emergency battery, they had to reconfigure some settings. The technician mentioned this is standard procedure for safety systems. The whole process was pretty straightforward, but they needed to run several tests to make sure everything was working properly. Since your iX1 is a 2022 model, it should definitely still be under warranty. I'd suggest giving your dealer a call, they might even be able to do a remote diagnosis before you bring it in. The sooner you get it sorted, the better. These systems are crucial in case of accidents. Let me know how it goes! Really curious if it turns out to be the same issue as mine. The symptoms sound identical though, so I'm pretty confident that's what you're dealing with.

Thanks so much for all the detailed info! You're absolutely right, I just checked and I'm still under warranty for another 14 months, so that's a relief. I've already called the dealer and they've booked me in for tomorrow morning. They did try the remote diagnosis but said they need to physically check the system to be certain. It's really helpful knowing what to expect, especially about the reconfiguration part. I was a bit worried it might be a major issue, but hearing about your experience has put my mind at ease. Will definitely get it sorted right away, you're totally right about not taking chances with safety systems. I'll update the forum once it's fixed in case anyone else runs into the same problem. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, it's made dealing with my first EV issue much less stressful!

Hey there! I have some experience with EVs and had a similar issue with my 2020 BMW iX3 (my second BMW after the i4). The emergency call system went haywire on me too. The workshop confirmed it was indeed a dead emergency battery, these batteries are separate from the main one and keep the emergency systems running if the main power fails. I took it to the workshop, they ran diagnostics and replaced the emergency battery unit. Total cost was around 110 Euro, and it fixed the problem completely. The whole thing took about 2 hours. Could you share more details about when you first noticed the issue? Does it happen consistently? This info would help determine if you're dealing with the same problem I had. Worth getting it checked soon though, emergency systems aren't something you want to risk!
